Version 1.0.3b Demo

The demo and paid versions of PlecoDict for Pocket PC are identical; after you place your order, you receive a special "keyfile" that you can use to unlock PlecoDict on your Pocket PC, but none of the actual data files change and there's no need to uninstall or reinstall anything.

The instruction manual contains detailed instructions for installing PlecoDict to your Pocket PC. Use the Automated option if you're installing PlecoDict from a Windows system. Use the Manual option if you're installing PlecoDict onto a Pocket PC from a Mac or Linux system, or if you encounter errors with the automated install.

Download the Basic or Complete/Professional version depending on which PlecoDict bundle you're interested in purchasing - if you're not sure, choose Complete/Professional. Update will update your PlecoDict software from version 1.0 to the latest version. If you're using an earlier (beta) version of PlecoDict, remove it from your system (Start \ Settings \ Remove Programs) and install the full package instead of running the update. If you download the current version (pccomplete103b or pcox103b), there's no need to install the update on top of that; all of the software on this page has already been updated, so just installing pccomplete103b or pcox103b will be sufficient to give you the latest version.

If you tap on the PlecoDict program icon on your Pocket PC and nothing happens, soft reset the Pocket PC (by sticking a paperclip or stylus tip in the reset switch, generally located on the back) and try again and it should work correctly.

Windows Mobile 6: This latest version 1.0.3b should be fully compatible with Windows Mobile 6; to update from the previous version, simply download and run the "Update" installer below.

If you encounter an out-of-memory error while installing, or the installer freezes / becomes unresponsive for several minutes, cancel and try it again with one item at a time; i.e., run the installer with ONLY the ABC Dictionary selected in the first screen, then, after it finishes, run it again with only the NWP dictionary selected, and so on until you've installed each of the available items; this should minimize the extra memory used during the install.

PlecoCheck

We strongly recommend that you try out the demo version of PlecoDict before purchasing it; however, for the sake of those of you with very slow internet connections who don't even want to download the demo unless you know that it will work, we've created a handy utility called PlecoCheck. This program will check your Pocket PC's operating system and memory capacity and let you know whether or not you're likely to be able to install PlecoDict; if you are, it will give you your Device ID (which you'll need in order to purchase it).
